6.3.4 Digital Traceability and Transparency

Digitalisation also improves the ability to trace materials, products and manufacturing processes throughout the supply chain. Digital records can capture information about raw materials, production stages, environmental performance and product specifications, making manufacturing more transparent and accountable. These systems support compliance with emerging European legislation, facilitate sustainability reporting and provide the foundation for Digital Product Passports. Improved traceability also strengthens collaboration between brands, manufacturers and recyclers by making reliable product information available throughout the product life cycle.
