Learning Objective
Learners will be able to explain how manufacturing processes can be made more resource-efficient and less polluting, and identify the BAT-based improvements most relevant to their own or a supplier's operations.
Learning Outcome
By the end of this chapter, learners who work in or with manufacturing should be able to benchmark a production process against BAT-based reference levels and propose a prioritised plan. Learners who do not operate a plant, such as designers, brand owners and SMEs, should be able to use the same categories to specify requirements, question and compare supplier evidence, and judge whether reported performance is comparable.
