6.1.8 Emissions to Air

Textile processes can release volatile organic compounds, dust and combustion gases. Manufacturers reduce air emissions by replacing solvent-based chemicals, installing VOC abatement systems, filters and scrubbers, and improving ventilation in coating, printing and finishing operations. These measures improve both environmental performance and workplace air quality.

Ask your supplier: which processes emit volatile organic compounds or dust, and which abatement or ventilation measures are installed and monitored?
