Chapter 6 — full chapter
6.1.6 Emissions to Water
Textile wastewater contains dyes, chemicals and organic pollutants that require effective treatment. Textile manufacturers install physical, chemical and biological wastewater treatment systems to remove dyes, organic matter and hazardous substances before discharge. Many facilities continuously monitor wastewater quality and increasingly reuse treated water within production processes.
Ask your supplier: which treatment stages does the effluent pass through, who tests it, how often, and can you provide the test reports rather than a summary statement?
