6.6 Assignment — Beyond Compliance

6.6 Assignment — Beyond Compliance

Step 1 — register your assignment version: click Choose your track and select the version you will complete: VET (EQF 4), HEI (EQF 5) or Professional — SME (EQF 6). You can change your answer at any time.

Choose the track for your profile, then complete the version that matches it.

This assignment asks you to turn the readiness work of Chapter 4 and the field activity of this module into a concrete circular business model opportunity for one product.

Task:

Choose one product from your DPP readiness map (or any product your organisation sells, or a product you know well as a learner). Select one circular business model it could run — repair and care services, resale and refurbishment, rental or lease, take-back for recycling, or product-as-a-service — and design it so that the product’s DPP data is an asset of the model, not an afterthought.

  • Define the model: who owns the product at each stage, how the customer pays, and how the garment returns to the business or moves to the next user.
  • List the DPP data areas the model needs (identity and ownership log, materials and composition, care and repair history, authenticity and condition evidence, end-of-life data) and mark where each data point is captured today and who owns it.
  • Identify the data gaps and the partnerships needed to close them (suppliers, repairers, logistics, resale or rental platforms).
  • Show the revenue and cost logic in five lines, and define three key performance indicators the passport should improve (for example resale value retention, utilisation per garment, or share of returned items routed to reuse rather than disposal).
  • Name the two biggest risks to the model and one mitigation for each.

Deliverable:

A one-page business model summary (canvas-style diagram or structured page) covering the five points above, submitted through the Assignment activity.

VET (EQF 4): a clear description of the model and the data it needs — approximately 400 words plus the one-page summary.

HEI (EQF 5): the full analysis above including data gap and partnerships — approximately 600–800 words plus the one-page summary.

Professional — SME (EQF 6): the full analysis plus a phased implementation plan with owners and dates, and KPI targets — approximately 800–1,000 words plus the one-page summary.

Assessment criteria: clarity of the model logic (40%), completeness and realism of the data map (30%), quality of the risk and partnership analysis (20%), and presentation (10%).
