1.5 Assignment — Digital Product Passport Overview
Choose the track for your profile, then complete the version that matches it.
Learners select one existing product and:
- Map 3 circular design principles (durability, repairability, cyclability) to EU policy signals (ESPR, EPR, DPP)
- Score current product performance (0–3) for each principle
- Identify one key design improvement with highest circular impact
- Indicate which product elements (pattern, seam, component, material choice) are affected
- Reflect briefly on how design changes could influence use patterns (without designing communication strategies)
VET students (EQF 4 — identify, describe, follow steps): draft the six essential DPP fields for one garment from your own wardrobe or company catalogue — product ID (GTIN), producer/facility ID, fibre composition, care instructions, repair guidance, end-of-life information — and mark for each field where the data would come from (label, tech pack, supplier). Deliverable: one A4 table.
HEI students (EQF 5 — apply, compare, implement): design a minimal DPP mock-up for one garment addressing three actors — a consumer (care, origin, sustainability claims), a reseller (authenticity, condition, repair history) and a recycler (composition, disassembly, recycling route). Show which fields each actor sees and why. Deliverable: two A4 pages (mock-up + justification).
Professionals (EQF 6 — assess, justify, design): propose a DPP data architecture and implementation plan for one product line: GS1 identifiers (GTIN/GLN, optional SGTIN), carrier choice (QR vs RFID), data fields aligned with CIRPASS/JRC, a named owner per field, and a phased timeline aligned with the ESPR (delegated act ~2027, obligations ~2028) — with a short business case. Deliverable: a two-page management brief.
