  3. 5.6 Assignment

5.6 Assignment

5.6 Assignment

Step 1 — register your assignment version: before submitting, click Choose your track and select the version you will complete: VET (EQF 4), HEI (EQF 5) or Professional — SME (EQF 6). You can change your answer at any time.

Choose the track for your profile, then complete the version that matches it.

5.6.1 Design Brief

  • Design brief 5, Decide with data
  • Task: Build one forecast or impact chart from data you already have (sell-through, sample counts, material weights) or from the template provided, and write a one-paragraph decision note: what the chart says and what you will do about it.
  • Deliverable: one chart + one-paragraph decision note.
  • EQF 4: use the template and describe what the chart shows.
  • EQF 5: add a second data source (e.g. returns or fabric waste) and combine them in the analysis.
  • EQF 6: complete the analysis with a recommendation and explicit confidence caveats.

5.6.2 Applied Assignment

  • Applied assignment (5 points), differentiated by learner profile in line with the FashionKIC EQF framework.
  • VET students (EQF 4, identify, describe, follow steps): Identify the four phases of an LCA and describe, using the T-shirt example of section 6.1.1, what a functional unit is. Then follow the steps to calculate impact-per-wear for two garments with given footprint and lifetime data, and state which performs better. Deliverable: completed worksheet.
  • HEI students (EQF 5, apply, compare, implement): Take one garment type. Define a defensible functional unit including the use phase; apply the fibre profiles of section 5.3 to compare two candidate materials on at least three impact dimensions (carbon, water, end-of-life), citing data sources; and justify which material you would choose for an EU-market product in 2028 in the light of one policy instrument (PEFCR, ESPR ecodesign requirements or EPR eco-modulation). Deliverable: max two pages including one table.
  • Professionals (EQF 6, assess, justify, design): Assess the environmental data pipeline of a company (yours or a case company): justify the choice of metrics and methods (LCA scope, PEFCR alignment, data sources) against greenwashing risk, and design the reporting architecture that connects product-level LCA to EPDs and to the value-chain data requests of CSRD-scope customers. Deliverable: three-page data strategy with system diagram.
