  3. 4.6 Assignment

4.6 Assignment

4.6 Assignment

Step 1 — register your assignment version: before submitting, click Choose your track and select the version you will complete: VET (EQF 4), HEI (EQF 5) or Professional — SME (EQF 6). You can change your answer at any time.

Choose the track for your profile, then complete the version that matches it.

4.6.1 Design Brief

  • Design brief 4, Make it digital
  • Task: Specify an on-demand or digital-print production route for one style: choose the technology (digital textile printing, additive manufacturing, 3D knitting) and define the file-preparation steps, colour management, resolution, print-ready formats, so a supplier could start production from your spec alone.
  • Deliverable: a one-page production spec for the style.
  • EQF 4: follow the file-preparation checklist step by step.
  • EQF 5: compare two production routes (e.g. digital vs screen print; on-demand vs batch) on cost, waste and lead time.
  • EQF 6: make a full make-or-buy decision for the style with cost figures and a recommended route.

4.6.2 Applied Assignment

  • Applied assignment (5 points), differentiated by learner profile in line with the FashionKIC EQF framework.
  • VET students (EQF 4, identify, describe, follow steps): Identify which digital manufacturing technology (additive manufacturing, digital printing, 3D knitting) is most suitable for three given products and describe why. Then follow the on-demand logic to outline, step by step, the journey of one product from customer order to delivery. Deliverable: one A4 flowchart with notes.
  • HEI students (EQF 5, apply, compare, implement): Select one fashion product currently made in large batches and redesign its production model: apply one digital manufacturing technology to produce it on demand, state the design changes required, compare expected sustainability gains (overproduction, waste, inventory) with the limits (unit cost, delivery time), and implement the order-to-delivery workflow. Deliverable: two A4 pages.
  • Professionals (EQF 6, assess, justify, design): Design an on-demand micro-factory concept for a product category of your choice: assess candidate technologies and capacity scenarios, justify the trade-offs (cost per unit, lead time, energy, materials) with reference to the ESPR unsold-goods ban, and design the digital workflow from customer configuration to production file. Deliverable: concept paper with process diagram (max 4 pages).
