Compliance and Evidence Map for a Circular Fashion Product

Learners translate regulatory and voluntary requirements into product decisions, supplier evidence, claims controls, and ownership. The activity assesses reasoning and prioritisation, not legal memorisation.

Version A - VET / EQF 4: Guided Product Compliance Check

Duration: 45-60 minutes | Format: Individual or pair work | Output: Completed worksheet + one-minute explanation

Choose one product card: cotton T-shirt, recycled-polyester jacket or denim jeans. Complete the following guided check.

Worksheet A. Guided product compliance check

CheckYour answer
Product and target EU market
Fibre and component information needed
One chemical or product-safety question
One voluntary standard that could support evidence - and what it would prove
One environmental claim to avoid or rewrite
One document to request from the supplier
One design decision that could improve compliance or recovery

Assessment focus: correct identification of basic information, evidence and claim categories; ability to connect one requirement to one product decision.

Version B - HEI / EQF 5: Product-Market-Evidence Matrix

Duration: 90-120 minutes | Format: Individual or group work | Output: Completed matrix + 300-word rationale

Select one fashion product and one EU destination market. Research the current status of relevant rules and complete one row for each category below. Do not present future or proposed requirements as already mandatory.

Worksheet B. Product-market-evidence matrix

CategoryRequirement or toolProduct implicationEvidence / owner
Composition and labelling
Chemicals or safety
ESPR / DPP readiness
Environmental claim
After-use / EPR

Social or supplier risk

In the rationale, identify the two highest-priority gaps, explain why they matter and propose one product change, and one data or process change.

Version C - Professionals / SMEs: Minimum Compliance and Evidence Package

Duration: 2-3 hours | Format: Company workshop | Output: Compliance map + 90-day action plan

Select a real product line and map the destination markets, legal areas, voluntary schemes, claims, supplier evidence, internal owners and current gaps. For every item, record whether the requirement is in force, upcoming, voluntary or uncertain, and needs verification.

Close the workshop by agreeing one short-term risk reduction, one longer-term system improvement and one person responsible for reviewing legal updates.

Worksheet C. Minimum compliance and evidence package
